About Rhaeos
Rhaeos, Inc. is a clinical stage, venture backed medical device startup company developing wireless wearable and non-invasive sensors for a number of healthcare applications. The Cloud Software Extern will work as part of the Research and Product Development teams to design, develop, build, and deploy cloud software to interface with Rhaeos wearable devices and accessory products. The Cloud Software Extern will contribute to new and existing products and work with internal and external software development partners. Rhaeos is located in Chicago and Evanston, IL and is led by an experienced medical device team.
By externing at Rhaeos, Inc. you will have the opportunity to work in a highly collaborative space within the medical device start-up. Here you will be working with internal and external teammates to strategize and implement new cloud software architectures for the next generation of Rhaeos products. Externship Description
As a Cloud Software Extern at Rhaeos, Inc., you will contribute to designing and implementing the cloud backend and/or clinician interface of our first remote patient monitoring, home wearable sensing system for helping hydrocephalus patients and their physicians manage their condition. You will advance our existing system to further implement cloud analytics and data flows for user interfaces that presents useful information to patients, in conjunction with the overall design of the wearable sensing experience. In the duration of your externship, you will be working closely with the Product, Clinical and R&D Teams.
You will work in person at our facility located in Evanston, Illinois. Remote work is also allowable, at times, upon management approval. You will receive written and oral performances at the end of your internship.
Objectives
- Collaborating with the R&D and software teams to plan AWS cloud structure and development activities in weekly sprint planning meetings
- Collaborate with the mobile app development team and web development team for API implementation
- Design and implement data management processes using AWS data lakes services (S3, S3 Glacier)
- Implement frameworks for applying deterministic algorithms and larger scale analysis using AWS server less analytics
- Contribute to design of overall usability and information delivery of the product experience
Qualifications
Baseline Skills, Experiences & Attributes:
- Currently a Master or PhD degree student at University of Chicago
- Experience in cloud software development and implementation
- Desire to collaborate with a combined wearable hardware and software team
- Good interpersonal communication
- Self-motivated
- Ability to learn and adapt quickly
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience using AWS
- Experience collaborating on code development via Git
