We’re utilizing state-of-the-art synthetic biology and microbial genetics technologies to build an outstanding portfolio of clinical candidates.

Internship Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a 10-week internship for PhD candidates and postdoctoral scholars to perform due diligence and help inform company strategy in the Immunology/Immuno-oncology space. Synlogic is looking for one or several participants to carryout analyzes involving Competitive Intelligence and Research Strategy in the Immuno-oncology and/or Microbiology space, with specific objectives tailored to each participant’s individual background and interests. The 10-week internship will involve weekly virtual meetings with Synlogic leadership and will culminate in a final presentation at our Cambridge office (expenses paid by Synlogic) which will include a slide deck and supporting materials. Participants can expect to gain significant experience in scientific and business strategy while providing extremely valuable insights which have the potential to guide future research and development efforts. Participants will also have the opportunity to interact directly with Scientists, Directors and C-suite executives at Synlogic.

Specific Objectives

  • Perform a thorough analysis of Synlogic’s competitors and generate a high level competitive landscape

  • Aggregate and analyze relevant scientific literature generated by competitors, and provide insights into the impact and implications of those studies

  • Outline key differentiating factors between competitor’s technologies and approaches

  • Provide insights into competitor’s clinical development strategies and target disease indications inferred by publications and investor presentations

  • Compile all findings and synthesize “take-home-messages” into final slide deck and presentation

Qualifications​

  • Self-motivated with interest in learning about research and development strategy

  • Able to commit ~10 hours per week with travel to Boston for final presentation

  • Excellent communication, writing, and time management skills

  • Background and expertise in either Immunology/Immune-oncology or Microbiology
