LabRepo is an early-stage start-up which has been accepted into the Booth School of Business, Polsky Center Accelerator Program. Founded by a University of Chicago BSD alumna, LabRepo is a web-based laboratory information management system for scientists making collaboration and data sharing across groups easy. LabRepo seeks to explore scientists’ needs through personal interviews and systematic data collection online, and to create novel solutions in the spheres of data exchange, archiving, and publishing. Under the guidance of LabRepo’s executive team and Polsky Accelerator Program mentors, the intern will conduct interviews with scientists in the Chicago area, design and manage marketing campaigns, and contribute to company advertisement thought social media channels. This will offer an opportunity to experience working in a science-oriented start-up, and meet with alumni entrepreneurs and Chicago-area investors.

Internship Description

The intern will experience a start-up environment and will be exposed to the Chicago entrepreneurial community. Position requires active participation in Polsky Center’s tactical workshops and weekly social events. The intern’s work will consist of interviewing potential customers and developing marketing strategies for online and offline channels. Under the guidance of LabRepo team, the intern will also identify funding opportunities for open source start-ups and may be asked to contribute to drafting an application. Except for weekly events organized by Polsky accelerator, the intern will have flexible schedule. The intern should have strong organizational, writing, and communication skills, and the ability to work independently. Additionally, the intern will have access to the Chicago Innovation Exchange resources and an opportunity to participate in LabRepo’s monthly Chicago Innovation Mentors program meetings.

A second quarter of internship may be offered based on the interest from the intern and LabRepo.
