myCHOICE is excited to announce a new opportunity offered through Vanderbilt’s ASPIRE Program for trainees interested in a career in regulatory affairs. We will be selecting up to two trainees trainees to participate in a two-day regulatory affairs workshop that includes discussions on how to transition into regulatory affairs, an overview of the FDA, and much more. Travel and hotel expenses will be covered by the myCHOICE Program.

This two-day Regulatory Affairs workshop will be held on Friday, March 8 and Saturday, March 9, from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. UChicago trainees will leave Chicago on the evening of Thursday March 7 and return on the evening of the 9th.The agenda will include:

Day One:
1. Transitioning to a career in regulatory affairs
2. An overview of the FDA including food & drug law
3. The drug review and the approval process
4. Expedited pathways
5. The OTC regulatory element

Day Two:
1. Generics
2. Biosimilars
3. Regenerative medicine and the future
4. Medical device overview
5. Locating and analyzing precedent

Requirements & Expectations of myCHOICE Trek participants:

  • All applicants must be a UChicago Biological Sciences Division graduate student, postdoc, or alum within 2 years of departing the university. Preference will be given to trainees in their 4th – 6th year of training. Applications from 1st and 2nd year students will not be considered.

  • Become a myCHOICE Trainee by submitting the myCHOICE Trainee Application.

  • Complete the myCHOICE Trek application.

  • Upon completion of the trek, reflect on your experience in a short statement (< 500 words)​.

  • myCHOICE will cover the airfare and hotel accommodations related to the trip. The trainee is responsible for daily transportation, meals, and any other expenses.
