Biopharma Industry Trek to Boston

myCHOICE is excited to announce our fifth Biopharma Industry Trek. A group of 8 – 10 graduate students and postdocs will be selected to spend 3 full days in back-to-back site visits at a wide variety of companies in the Kendall Square & Cambridge, MA, hotbed of biopharma research. ​Trek participants will also attend a social networking event to meet local alums and industry professionals. If you are nearing the end of your research training and intend to enter a career in industry research within the next 18 months, polish up your application materials! This is an invaluable opportunity to broaden your professional network and gain insight into the nuances of Boston biopharma culture.

The Biopharma Trek (Boston 2017) exposed me to a variety of company sizes and cultures. Through this experience, I learned I wanted to work at a smaller biotech company and have recently taken a Scientist position in the Bay Area after finishing my postdoc at UChicago.

Requirements & Expectations of myCHOICE Trek Participants:
  • PhD graduate students, postdoctoral scientists, or alumni (within 1 year of departing the university) from the BSD, PSD, or PME are welcome to apply. Preference will be given to individuals in their 5th year of training and beyond. Applications from 1st and 2nd year graduate students will not be considered.

  • Complete the myCHOICE Trek Application HERE.

  • To complete the myCHOICE trek application, please submit the following documents:

    • Resume: A current resume. 
    • Cover Letter: Two cover letters for current open positions at two of the companies listed on the Trek webpage.
    • A personal statement. Please address your career goals related to data science, engineering, etc. & how participation in the trek will further your career goals.
  • Upon completion of the trek, reflect on your experience in a short statement (<500 words)​.

  • myCHOICE will cover the airfare and hotel accommodations related to the trip. The trainee is responsible for daily transportation, meals, and any other expenses.

  • Therefore, this application will be extremely competitive. We strongly encourage you to meet with a career services expert in UChicagoGRAD to review and revise your application materials.
