Monday, June 23rd, 2:00 – 3:00 PM CST
(On Campus)

Join myCHOICE for a Fireside Chat with Dr. Chris Rhodes, a leader in pharmaceutical R&D and academic research. With decades of experience, Dr. Rhodes has pioneered work in metabolic diseases, diabetes, obesity, and their related renal and cardiovascular complications. In this conversation, he will share insights from his career, discuss the intersection of academic and biopharmaceutical research, and offer advice on building a meaningful, impactful career.

About The Speaker

Christopher J. Rhodes, PhD

Chief Scientist, Research and Early Development, Cardiovascular, Renal and Metabolism (CVRM), BioPharmaceuticals R&D, and Chair of AstraZeneca’s postdoc programme

Dr. Rhodes has over 40 years experience in diabetes/obesity/metabolic research, mostly focused molecular mechanisms in the pathogenesis of diabetes and obesity, including related metabolic diseases and complications. He is a leading expert on metabolism, metabolic regulation and signal transduction He trained at the University of London obtaining his PhD in Biochemistry, followed by postdoctoral fellowships at the Joslin Diabetes Center and the University of Cambridge. He then had faculty positions at the Joslin Diabetes Center/Harvard Medical School, the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School at Dallas, the Pacific Northwest Research Institute/University of Washington in Seattle, then at the University of Chicago as Research Director of the Kovler Diabetes Center and Chair of the Biomedical Sciences Cluster graduate programs.
