Conquering Presentation Anxiety: Improv for Scientists

Committee Meetings! Conference Presentations! Poster Sessions! Oh My!

As the famous 19th century scientist Louis Pasteur said, “Fortune favors the prepared mind.” Join us for a Communication Workshop designed to prepare you for novel situations, unpredictable people, and “unscripted” circumstances. In this interactive, introductory workshop, The Revival Theater will facilitate a series of improv-based exercises taught by Micah Philbrook, designed to help you:

  • Improve presentation skills
  • Enhance teamwork and collaboration
  • Address anxiety

Please wear comfortable clothes and be prepared for roughly 2 hrs. of on-your-feet exercises. Everyone will have a chance to participate and are encouraged to take risks, embrace mistakes, and learn from their experiences in a supportive environment.  This workshop requires no previous experience. All you need to bring is an open mind!

Instructor

Micah Philbrook was raised in the deep south of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where he studied theatre since the tender age of ten. He moved to Chicago after college to pursue the art of improvisational theatre. He is a founding member of The pH Comedy Theater, and half the sketch comedy duo, the tim&micah project.  Micah currently teaches at The Revival, the Second City and performs regularly with the tim&micah project, That Sunday Show, and Those Who Can’t.
