Computational Biology Trek
Trek Dates: Week of August 18 (Tentatively August 19-21)

myCHOICE is excited to return to the Bay Area for our computational biology-focused trek! Trainees will be selected to travel to the Bay Area for multiple days of site visits at companies highlighting careers in genomics, bioengineering, bioinformatics, and computational biology and chemistry. Site visits come in all shapes and sizes, frequently including a company presentation, a panel discussion with employees, a site tour, and free-form networking time (and sometimes food and swag). Site visits are still under development but may include:
- Genentech
- BridgeBio
- Xaira Therapeutics
- GRAIL
- Epicrispr Therapeutics
- Maze Therapeutics
The trek will also include an evening networking reception with local alumni and professionals.

Graduate students, postdoctoral scientists, or alumni (within 2 years of departing the university) from the BSD, PSD, or PME are welcome to apply. Preference will be given to individuals in their 5th year of training and beyond. Applications from 1st, 2nd, and 3rd year graduate students will not be considered.

- Complete the myCHOICE trek application via GRAD Gargoyle . You will be asked to submit the following documents.
- A current resume/industryCV
- Cover letters for two positions that are currently open at the potential host companies listed above. Please include a copy of the job advertisement for the position(s) you are writing the cover letter(s) for.
- A personal statement that addresses your interest in computational biology and how participation in the trek will further your career goals. (2 page max)
Note: The selection process will be competitive.
- Conditions of your acceptance of the Trek Offer
- Must attend two pre-trek, in-person meetings to prepare materials and discuss details of the trek
- Refine LinkedIn and Resume prior to Trek
- Submit a short biography and headshot that will be shared with the trek hosts
- Upon completion of the trek, reflect on your experience in a short survey

myCHOICE will cover the airfare, meals and hotel accommodations related to the trip. The trainee is responsible for individual private transportation during or on either end of the trek ,and any other expenses.
