Fundamentals of Project Management for Scientists

In this class, students will learn the fundamentals of project management in industry where scientists often represent their functional area as core team members on larger project teams. This workshop series helps to develop the skills to lead small projects and provides a backdrop for working as a core team member on larger projects. It covers foundational terms and processes around planning and initiating projects from the existing Project Management Standard, using information from the Project Management Body of Knowledge (TM) to define commonly used nomenclature and approaches to project management.

Dee developed expertise in project management, leadership and cross-functional teams in the pharmaceutical industry and evolved into an accomplished coach, speaker, consultant, and trainer. She is an adjunct instructor with the University of Chicago and Graham School. Dee earned her MBA from Webster University, her BA from Columbia College and her PMP from the Project Management Institute. Other certifications around organizational development and stress management include: The Resilience Advantage from the HeartMathTM Institute, Authorized Partner for DiSC and the 5 Behaviors of a Cohesive Team from Wiley.
