Hack Your Brain! Using Your Executive Functions to Succeed with Less Stress

Executive functions (EFs) are something we all use to learn, make decisions, and get things done. Understanding and strengthening or supplementing our EFs enables our success, with or without ADHD, anxiety, depression, dyslexia/dysgraphia, Autism & more. In this session, you can learn:

  • the role of EFs in thinking and tasks
  • how to identify your strong and weaker EFs
  • how to supplement your weaker EFs with a personalized external system
  • how to communicate your needs to faculty and employers

Instructor

Becca Güler, EhD Higher Education Learning Specialist and Expert in Neurodiversity Support
Before beginning a career in medical education, Dr. Güler was a university Learning Specialist for undergraduate and graduate students, running a large Academic Coaching program and year-round academic skills workshop series and serving on the approvals committee for student ADA accommodations. Her education career began in 2001 as an ESL teaching intern, which became a 13-year career as an instructor and administrator in English for Academic Purposes programs for international students preparing for undergraduate and graduate studies. Along the way, Dr. Güler lived and worked in India, Turkey, and the US, earning her M.Ed in Curriculum & Instruction and an EdD in Educational Leadership with a specialization in Reading, as well as a graduate certificate in Autism Spectrum Disorder.

As of June 2023, Dr. Güler serves as an advisor and neurodiversity consultant to individual students as well as delivering faculty training and research projects through her company, On-Call Advising & Consulting Service
