Background

The Chicago Immunoengineering Innovation Center (PME) is dedicated to using engineering principles to uncover new insights on the immune system and innovate solutions addressing immunological problems in health and disease. The CIIC unifies clinicians, immunologists, and bioengineers to create tools and technologies aimed at unmet needs in immune science and practice. Together, we are committed to original and collaborative inquiry, but also to accelerating the development of discoveries into real-world solutions.

Externship Description

The extern will learn how to create and execute a strategic plan for digital content in collaboration with the Executive Director and PME Communications team. Through the externship, they will:

• Develop and manage the CIIC website, including creating content updates and monitoring new and existing pages for consistency in tone, content, design, imagery, and brand identity.
• Create, develop, and curate content for social media, including LinkedIn, Instagram, and Twitter, learning knowledge of social media trends and best practices.
• Develop, deploy, and manage other digital materials, including weekly listserv emails and a quarterly digital newsletter.
• Maintain brand identity and visual consistency across materials.

Specific Objectives

• Learn skills required to create and promote digital content (online publishing, social media best practices).
• Learn how to use digital tactics like social media and website to promote the mission of a large organization by producing content, quantifying metrics, and optimizing engagement.
• Expand knowledge of immunoengineering and entrepreneurship by attending seminars and workshops.

Qualifications

Candidates should have excellent writing skills, background in the life sciences/healthcare (preferably engineering or immunology), and be open to learning new skills and receiving constructive feedback.
