Company Overview

Externship Description 

The externship introduces a graduate candidate to good documentation practices required by pharmaceutical standards. The successful candidate will work alongside experienced professionals and have the opportunity to train on advanced biotech equipment utilized in the research for the novel advanced therapies. The training will translate into creating standard operating procedures to be utilized by the portal members. By adhering to good documentation practices, the extern will gain valuable experience in maintaining accurate records and ensuring compliance with laboratory standards.


Specific Objectives

  • Develop and write Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for biotech equipment including, but not limited to, microscopes, spectrophotometers, and other common lab equipment.
  • Collaborate with the biotech team to ensure SOPs are properly written, updated, and accessible to all relevant personnel.
  • Conduct research and identify industry best practices for laboratory equipment operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Develop and write a Standard Operating Procedure (SOPs) for the approved chemical inventory software.
  • Continuously review and improve SOPs to ensure they are up-to-date, efficient, and effective.
  • Participate in training and development sessions to increase knowledge and expertise in the biotech industry.


Qualifications

  • Currently a graduate student with a scientific background (preferably within the biological sciences)
  • While the externship is unpaid, all applicants must be currently eligible for employment in the United States
  • Strong work ethic and interest in learning more about equity research in the biotechnology industry
  • Ability to work independently and multi-task, show initiative to find answers to questions, interpret and present data, and adapt to change
  • Excellent communication, writing and time management skills


Expectations

  • Commit 5-10 hours per week for independent due diligence.
  • Attend weekly meetings with the Portal team.
  • One quarter minimum commitment
