Background

The basic research and graduate education mission in the BSD is a large enterprise that depends heavily on the success of external, federally funded grant proposals. This internship provides an unprecedented opportunity for an intern to assist in both the ongoing assessment of our research mission compared to our peer institutions, as well as day-to-day administrative tasks of the office.  The intern will research and analyze performance data on both internal and external programs and departments.  This experience will help to familiarize the intern with how researchers, programs and institutions are evaluated, providing a strong preparation for administrative roles in both research and educational settings

 

Internship Description

The intern will research funding metrics and create citation analysis reports, assisting generally with metrics related to the academic performance of departments across the Division, as well as comparisons with our peer institutions.  They may also be responsible for researching new funding opportunities, and keeping the leadership abreast of new scientific publications from the Division. They will develop schedules in excel to track deadlines and assist with other projects within the Division.  Position requires attention to detail, strong organizational skills, ability to work independently, a broad interest in the scientific topics represented across the Division, as well as strong verbal and written communication skills. May also be asked to review and edit documents and power point presentations and perform other scientific and administrative tasks as needed.
